Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro release date may now be easier to predict after a new report pointed to a likely September keynote schedule.
According to Forbes, Apple is expected to hold its iPhone 18 Pro keynote on Wednesday, September 9, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max likely reaching stores on Friday, September 18.
The date has not been officially confirmed by Apple, but it fits the company’s familiar September pattern. Apple typically announces new iPhones in early September, opens pre-orders days later, and starts availability the following Friday.
Why September 18 Makes Sense
The latest forecast is tied to Apple’s expected September event timing.
Forbes noted that Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7 in the U.S. this year. That may make Wednesday, September 9 a more practical keynote date, since it avoids forcing media and guests to travel during the holiday.
If Apple follows its usual rhythm, pre-orders could begin on Friday, September 11, before the first retail availability on Friday, September 18.
MacRumors also reported that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had pointed to September 8 or September 9 as the most likely event dates for Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra announcement.
Apple May Split the iPhone 18 Lineup
This year’s iPhone launch may be different from past releases.
Reports suggest Apple will focus its September event on the higher-end iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a new foldable iPhone that may be called iPhone Ultra.
The regular iPhone 18, lower-cost iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are not expected to arrive until around March 2027, according to MacRumors and other reports.
That would mark a major shift for Apple, which usually introduces its main iPhone lineup together in September.
iPhone Ultra Could Join the September Event
The rumored iPhone Ultra is also drawing attention because it may become Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Reports have suggested the device could feature a book-style design with an outer display of around 5.5 inches and an inner display of around 7.8 inches.
However, there are still questions about whether the foldable iPhone will ship at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro models or follow later.
Possible Price Increase Also in Focus
The launch date is not the only detail getting attention.
Tom’s Guide reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could cost more than last year’s models, with some estimates pointing to a possible $200 increase.
That would put more pressure on Apple to justify the upgrade, especially if the Pro models are positioned as the main September iPhone releases.
Rumored upgrades include a smaller Dynamic Island, new color options, camera improvements, a thicker body for battery changes, and Apple’s next-generation A20 chip.
Apple Has Not Confirmed the Date Yet
As of this writing, Apple has not announced the official iPhone 18 Pro event date.
If the September 9 keynote prediction is accurate, Apple could send invitations in late August. MacRumors noted that Apple has often given around two weeks of notice for recent iPhone events.
For now, the safest expectation is that Apple’s next major iPhone event will happen in early September, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max likely arriving in stores later that month.
