Amazon Raises Echo, Fire TV and Kindle Prices by Up to 60%

Amazon’s smart-home bargain is harder to defend when its entry-level gadgets stop feeling entry-level.

Amazon has raised prices across several of its own device lines, including Echo, Fire TV, Kindle and eero, with some products now costing as much as 60% more than before.

The price changes were first reported by Fortune and later covered by PCMag, which noted that the increases hit some of Amazon’s most popular hardware products, from the Echo Dot to the Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon Says Component Costs Are Behind the Price Hikes

Amazon blamed the move on higher memory and storage component costs.

In a statement reported by Fortune, the company said the consumer electronics industry is facing “significant increases” in those component costs and that Amazon had absorbed the increases for as long as it could before adjusting prices.

The company also said it still plans to offer promotions across its device lineup throughout the year.

Which Amazon Devices Got More Expensive?

The biggest jump appears to be the Echo Dot, which rose from $49.99 to $79.99, a 60% increase.

Other affected devices include:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max, up from $59.99 to $84.99
  • Kindle 16GB, up from $109.99 to $149.99
  • Kindle Paperwhite 16GB, up from $159.99 to $199.99
  • Echo Show 21, up from $399.99 to $499.99
  • Echo Dot Max, up from $99.99 to $119.99
  • eero 7 three-pack, up from $349.99 to $399.99
  • eero Pro 7 three-pack, up from $699.99 to $799.99

The increases are especially noticeable because Amazon devices have long been positioned as affordable entry points into the company’s broader ecosystem.

Why This Matters for Amazon Customers

For shoppers, the change could make waiting for sales more important than before.

Echo speakers, Fire TV sticks and Kindles are often discounted during major shopping events like Prime Day and Black Friday. But with higher list prices now in place, future discounts may not feel as aggressive as past deals.

The timing also matters because Amazon uses these devices to pull customers deeper into its services, including Alexa, Prime Video, Kindle books, smart home tools and eero networking.

A more expensive Echo Dot or Kindle does not just change the price of one gadget. It changes the cost of getting into Amazon’s connected device ecosystem.

Not Every Amazon Device Was Affected

Not all Amazon hardware appears to be included in the price hikes.

Reports said Amazon’s Ring cameras and video doorbells were not affected by the latest round of increases. The Echo Studio also appears to have avoided the jump.

That suggests Amazon may be targeting products more exposed to rising memory and storage costs, rather than applying a blanket price increase across every device category.

Will Prices Come Back Down?

Amazon has not said whether the new prices are temporary.

The company’s mention of future promotions suggests shoppers may still see discounts. But for now, the higher list prices appear to be the new baseline across several Echo, Fire TV, Kindle and eero products.

As of this writing, Amazon has not announced a broader public pricing update on its own newsroom, and the company has not detailed when or if affected devices may return to their previous prices.
