Apple Pay is now officially available in the Philippines, giving iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac users a new way to pay in stores, apps, and websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple announced the launch on August 4, 2026, confirming that users in the country can now make purchases using Apple Pay at supported retailers and online merchants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch gives Filipino Apple users another cashless payment option at a time when digital payments are already becoming part of everyday life in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At launch, Apple Pay supports eligible debit, credit, and prepaid Mastercard and Visa cards from Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, and UnionBank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This means cardholders from these banks can add their cards to Apple Wallet and use Apple Pay for contactless payments where supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Customers of select banks can also apply for a virtual card through their bank\u2019s app or website. Apple said GoTyme Bank debit cards and UnionBank credit cards can be issued virtually and added to Apple Pay, allowing users to start paying with their Apple devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple said thousands of in-store and online merchants in the Philippines will support Apple Pay starting today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initial merchant list includes Abenson, Anko, Ayala Malls Cinemas, Ayala Malls, Beyond the Box, Coach, Digimap, Foot Locker, Globe, HOKA, Hollister, Jollibee, Lush, Power Mac Center, Rustan\u2019s, SaladStop!, Shake Shack, Smart, The Loop, The Matcha Tokyo, The Movie Snackbar, The Underbelly, and WalterMart Supermarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay will also work in apps and websites including foodpanda, Jollibee, Rustan\u2019s, and Shopee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maya Business will also begin enabling Apple Pay for more than 5,000 online merchants, which should help expand acceptance beyond major retail names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using Apple Pay in stores works through contactless payment terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On iPhone, users can double-click the side button or Home button, authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID, then hold the top of the device near the contactless reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Apple Watch, users can double-click the side button and hold the watch near the reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For online and in-app purchases, Apple Pay can be used on iPhone, iPad, and Mac without repeatedly typing card details, contact information, shipping details, or billing information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Users will still earn the same rewards and benefits offered by their supported debit or credit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay in the Philippines requires an iPhone 6 or later running iOS 12.5.2 or later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Apple Watch, users need an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 9 or later. The Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone 8 or later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay can also be used for purchases on supported iPad and Mac models when shopping in apps or on the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple is positioning privacy and security as one of the biggest reasons to use Apple Pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When a card is added to Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, Apple uses a unique Device Account Number that is encrypted and stored in the Secure Element, a certified chip designed to protect payment information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple also said it does not keep transaction information that can be tied back to the user when paying with a credit or debit card through Apple Pay. Transactions remain between the user, the merchant, and the bank or card issuer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If an iPhone is lost or stolen, users can use the Find My app to locate the device, lock it, or suspend payments from that device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay\u2019s Philippine launch follows months of speculation from local tech and fintech communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier reports said Apple Pay was expected to arrive in the country by the third quarter of 2026 as banks completed technical integration with the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas had also clarified that Apple Pay and Google Pay are treated as technology service providers, not operators of payment systems, since they do not hold user funds directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That distinction helped clear the way for global mobile payment platforms to work with local banks and card issuers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay\u2019s arrival comes as digital payments continue to grow in the Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BSP previously reported that digital payments accounted for 57.4% of monthly retail transaction volume and 59% of transaction value in 2024, showing that cashless payments are no longer a niche habit in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For iPhone users, Apple Pay fills a major gap. Android users already saw Google Pay arrive in the Philippines in November 2025, while local e-wallets and QR payments have become widely used across stores, restaurants, and online platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple Pay adds another layer to that shift, especially for users who prefer tap-to-pay transactions using their iPhone or Apple Watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As of launch day, Apple Pay is available in more than 90 countries and regions and works with more than 11,000 bank partners worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
