According to 9to5Google, Pixel search is now described as a dedicated search companion for finding personal information faster. It can surface apps, Google Drive files, photos, emails, messages, calendar events, and other on-device content from one search bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The update makes Pixel search more useful than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
9to5Google reported that Pixel Launcher search previously integrated with apps and services such as Clock, Contacts, Pixel Tips, Play Store, Settings, and Wallet. On Pixel 11, that list has expanded to include Calendar, Drive, Files by Google, Gmail, Messages, Photos, and Pixel Screenshots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That means a Pixel 11 user can search for more than just apps or quick settings. A single query can bring up emails, files, photos, messages, and calendar information, depending on what is available on the device and connected accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Google\u2019s own Pixel Phone Help page also confirms the wider search categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The support page says Pixel search can find content from both the phone and the web. It lists apps, web results, contacts, settings, Google Play Store, screenshots, Google Assistant actions, and Pixel phone tips. For the Pixel 11 series specifically, Google says users can search for specific information in Gmail, clocks and alarms, Messages, Drive, and Photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This confirms that Pixel 11 search is not just a cosmetic change. It expands what the Pixel Launcher can search across, especially inside Google\u2019s own apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main limitation is placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
9to5Google noted that the new unified Pixel search is not the search bar at the bottom of the home screen. Instead, it appears after opening the Pixel Launcher app grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That matters because the home screen search bar is the most visible search entry point on Pixel phones. If users tap that bar expecting to search their phone, they may not reach the new Pixel search experience directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Google\u2019s support page says users can search from the Pixel home screen by swiping up to reveal a search bar, typing a query, and tapping a result. It also says users who want to search the web only can tap the search bar on the home screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This helps explain the difference between the two entry points. The home screen search bar is more focused on Google web search, while Pixel Launcher search inside the app drawer is where the broader device search experience lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pixel search could become one of the more practical Pixel 11 software features if users know where to find it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
