The app is available on Android and iOS and uses information from connected Google services to create personalized stories each day.

There is one important detail. Google’s official Dreambeans website still says access is limited to eligible Google AI Pro subscribers aged 18 or older in the US. This may mean Google is gradually expanding free access or has not yet updated its public eligibility page.

What Is Google Dreambeans?

Dreambeans is an experimental app from Google Labs that creates a personalized collection of stories for users every day.

With permission, the app can use information from Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, YouTube and Search history. Google calls the technology behind this Personal Intelligence.

Dreambeans looks at those connected services to understand a user’s interests, plans, hobbies and activities.

It can then suggest things to do, topics to explore, places to visit or events that may be relevant.

Is Google Dreambeans Free?

According to 9to5Google, Dreambeans can now be tested using free personal Google Accounts in the United States.

Previously, access was tied to Google’s paid AI plans. Dreambeans first became available to Google AI Ultra users and later expanded to Google AI Pro subscribers.

However, Google’s official Dreambeans page currently still lists Google AI Pro as a requirement.

For now, users should check the Dreambeans app or Google Labs page to see whether free access has reached their account.

How Does Google Dreambeans Work?

Dreambeans uses information from the Google apps a user chooses to connect.

For example, Gmail and Calendar can provide information about upcoming plans. Google Photos can help the app understand memories, people and places. YouTube can provide clues about hobbies, while Search history can show topics a user has recently become interested in.

The app processes these signals and creates a new collection of personalized stories each morning.

Users remain in control of which Google apps Dreambeans can access.

What Can Dreambeans Recommend?

Dreambeans can suggest activities, places, events and topics based on what it knows about the user.

Opening a story provides more information. A hiking recommendation, for example, could include trail details, suggested stops, clothing recommendations and timing information.

Dreambeans can also provide links to relevant information from the web.

Users can ask follow-up questions through an “Ask anything” feature and give feedback to improve future recommendations.

How Does Dreambeans Create Its Images?

Dreambeans also creates personalized illustrations for its stories.

Google says the app uses Nano Banana 2 to generate the artwork. Instead of showing generic stock photos, an illustration can reflect people, places or interests that are relevant to the user.

This makes Dreambeans more visual than a standard recommendation feed.

Why Does This Matter?

Removing the subscription requirement could significantly increase the number of people able to test Dreambeans.

The app also shows where Google may be taking personal AI assistants.

Instead of waiting for users to type a question, Dreambeans looks at information they have chosen to connect and proactively suggests things that may be useful or interesting.

That approach is different from a traditional chatbot. It gives AI a more active role in deciding what information a user may want to see.

What About Privacy?

Dreambeans requires access to personal information to provide highly customized recommendations.

Google says users can choose which apps are connected to Dreambeans. They can also change those connections, review feedback history and delete Dreambeans data from the app.

Connecting an app to Dreambeans does not automatically change the user’s connection settings for Gemini or AI Mode.

Users who are uncomfortable sharing information from Gmail, Photos, Search or other services can choose not to connect those sources.

Who Can Use Google Dreambeans?

Dreambeans is currently focused on users in the United States.

9to5Google reports that free personal Google Accounts can now test the service. Dreambeans is available through Android and iOS apps.

Google’s official website, however, still says users must be at least 18 years old and have an eligible Google AI Pro subscription.

Because the two sources currently differ, availability may depend on the account or rollout stage.

Sebertech Analysis

The free expansion could be an important test for Google’s wider Personal Intelligence strategy.

Dreambeans combines several pieces of information that Google already has across separate services and turns them into proactive suggestions.

That gives Google a way to test whether users want an AI assistant that does more than answer questions.

The bigger question may be how comfortable people are with an AI system using information from email, photos, searches and other personal services to decide what they may want to see next.

Free access should give Google considerably more feedback on that question.

What Is Still Unknown?

Google has not yet updated its official Dreambeans website to confirm that all eligible free Google Accounts in the US can access the app.

It is also unclear when Dreambeans will expand beyond the United States.

Google has not announced whether Dreambeans will remain a standalone Google Labs experiment or whether some of its features will eventually appear in Gemini or other Google products.

What Happens Next?

Google is likely to continue testing Dreambeans with a wider group of users while collecting feedback on its personalized recommendations.

US users interested in trying the app can check Dreambeans on Android or iOS to see whether access is available for their Google Account.

Sebertech will update this report if Google formally confirms wider free availability or announces an international rollout.

Sources: 9to5Google; Google Labs; Google Play

Written by Grace Hisona

Published: August 30, 2026, 7:13 AM PHT

Author’s take: Making Dreambeans free could give many more people a chance to see how useful, or intrusive, a highly personalized Google AI assistant can …

[1,12
433,432,430,431
post-737","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-breaking","category-software-news","tag-dreambeans","tag-google-ai-pro","tag-google-dreambeans-free","tag-google-labs
["GET
