As the much-awaited Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with its expansive 14.6-inch display begins to make its way to pre-order customers, Xiaomi is making headlines by announcing its own entrant into the tablet arena — the new Xiaomi Pad 6 slate.
The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 Max, sporting a spacious 14-inch screen, is slated for its grand unveiling on August 14 in China. This launch event will also mark the introduction of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, a foldable smartphone resembling a book, akin to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Xiaomi Pad 6 Preview
According to a teaser image released by Xiaomi, the 14-inch screen on the Mi Pad 6 Max is set to overshadow the earlier Mi Pad 6 and 6 Pro models, equipped with 11-inch displays, by a substantial 62%. The teaser images even drew a parallel between the tablet and a laptop boasting a 14-inch screen, underlining the tablet’s impressive visual real estate. It’s worth noting, however, that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra holds the crown for the largest tablet screen, measuring 14.6 inches diagonally.
The teaser images also hint at a dual-camera setup on both the front and rear of the tablet, echoing the configuration found on the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Insider reports speculate that one of the rear cameras could be a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor, serving purposes like depth sensing and 3D modeling.
Moreover, one of the front-facing cameras is purportedly a 3D ToF sensor, offering biometric face recognition for unlocking the tablet and the ability to intuitively play/pause media by tracking eye movement.
While Xiaomi has kept further features under wraps, the Mi Pad 6 Max has recently surfaced on several certification websites, revealing specs such as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, up to 12GB RAM, 67W fast charging, and compatibility with Android 13.
While the Mi Pad 6 Max presents itself as an enticing tablet option, it’s clear that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra retains a lead with its larger display, swifter processor, water and dust resistance, and a host of additional features.
Samsung, in a bid to entice prospective buyers, has bundled attractive incentives with the pre-order of the Galaxy Tab S9 series. This includes discounts, freebies, and memory upgrades. Furthermore, the tech giant has announced a one-year free subscription to the GoodNotes app with the Galaxy Tab S9 series, which is priced at $9.99.
The GoodNotes app has gained substantial popularity as a versatile note-taking platform, equipped with features such as PDF annotation, audio integration, wireless note presentation on external displays, and more. Available across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Windows, and Android platforms, the app provides seamless accessibility across a wide range of devices.
As for the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup, Wi-Fi-only variants commence at $799 for Tab S9, $999 for Tab S9+, and $1,199 for Tab S9 Ultra. These models offer a starting configuration of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage or higher, with Tab S9+ and Ultra versions beginning at 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Considering the expansive capabilities of the GoodNotes app, the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra’s expansive screens, potent processors, and bundled S-Pen stylus offer the ideal canvas for users to maximize their note-taking experience.
Consequently, Samsung’s decision to include the app in the Galaxy Tab S9 series appears well-aligned with this vision.
