Oracle, Quantinuum Team Up To Bring Quantum Computing To Oracle Cloud

Oracle and Quantinuum have announced a multi-year partnership that will bring Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

The deal is aimed at giving OCI customers direct access to quantum computing through Oracle’s planned quantum service, alongside the company’s existing high-performance computing and GPU infrastructure.

Under the partnership, Helios will be deployed in a U.S.-based OCI AI data center. The companies said the setup is designed to support hybrid workloads that combine quantum computing, artificial intelligence and classical high-performance computing.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Oracle also has not announced an exact deployment date, though it plans to preview the OCI quantum service in the coming months.

Why The Oracle And Quantinuum Deal Matters

Quantum computing is still early, but cloud access is becoming one of the most practical ways for companies, researchers and developers to test the technology without buying or operating specialized hardware.

That is the point of this partnership.

Instead of requiring customers to manage a dedicated quantum system, Oracle and Quantinuum plan to make Helios available through OCI as a managed service. That could make it easier for enterprises, AI labs, universities and research institutions to experiment with quantum-classical applications.

The companies said the system could be used for areas such as drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, logistics, energy and large-scale optimization.

Helios Will Run Inside Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Quantinuum describes Helios as its third-generation quantum computer. The system launched commercially in November 2025 and uses a 98-physical-qubit trapped-ion architecture.

According to Oracle and Quantinuum, Helios has been used in demonstrations involving 48 logical qubits and achieves an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921%.

That technical detail matters because fidelity is one of the key measures used to judge how accurately a quantum system can run operations. Higher accuracy may help researchers test more useful quantum workloads as the technology moves closer to commercial use.

By placing Helios inside OCI infrastructure, Oracle says customers should be able to use existing OCI compute, networking, storage, identity and data services under the same governance and access controls they already use.

Oracle Wants Quantum To Sit Beside AI And HPC

The move also shows where Oracle wants quantum computing to fit in its broader cloud strategy.

This is not being pitched as quantum replacing traditional computing. It is being framed as a companion to AI, GPUs and high-performance computing.

Quantinuum CEO Dr. Rajeeb Hazra said the next phase of enterprise computing will be shaped by bringing quantum, AI and high-performance computing together. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure executive Mahesh Thiagarajan said the goal is to give developers a practical and secure way to explore how quantum computing could complement their existing AI and HPC workloads.

That positioning is important. Most companies are not ready to run business-critical workloads on quantum computers yet. But they may be ready to test hybrid models where quantum processors handle specific problems while classical systems manage the rest.

Quantinuum Gets Another Commercial Push

The Oracle partnership also comes as Quantinuum tries to build commercial momentum in the quantum computing market.

The company reported its second-quarter 2026 results on August 11, saying revenue grew 279% year over year. Quantinuum also highlighted the Oracle partnership as an industry-first move to deploy Helios as an OCI service.

Investor’s Business Daily reported that Quantinuum shares rose after the company’s first earnings report as a public company, with the Oracle deal helping lift attention around its path to commercialization.

Oracle shares also climbed after the partnership announcement, though market reaction was also tied to wider cloud and AI infrastructure sentiment.

What Happens Next

Oracle plans to preview its OCI quantum service in the coming months.

The service is expected to combine Quantinuum’s development stack with support for open-source hybrid-programming frameworks, giving developers a way to build, test and refine quantum-classical applications.

For now, the deal is less about immediate mainstream quantum adoption and more about access. Oracle wants quantum computing to become part of the cloud environment enterprises already use. Quantinuum wants more customers to test Helios in real-world hybrid workloads.

That is the story to watch: not whether quantum replaces cloud computing, but whether it becomes another layer inside it.
