GTA 6 is still officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, but fresh delay concerns are spreading again after a former Rockstar Games developer said he would not be surprised if the game moved by another six months.
Former Rockstar animator Mike York, who previously worked on GTA 5, said Rockstar could still delay Grand Theft Auto VI if the studio decides the game needs more polish before release.
That does not mean another delay has been confirmed. Rockstar’s official GTA 6 page still lists November 19, 2026, as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders also remain live through digital storefronts and select retailers.
Ex-Rockstar Dev Says Rockstar Could Delay GTA 6 Again
According to Notebookcheck and Indy100, York said he “would not be shocked” if GTA 6 gets delayed again, especially if developers find late-stage bugs or missions that do not meet Rockstar’s internal standard.
York reportedly used a final mission as an example, saying Rockstar could push the game back if that section still needs work. He also suggested that the company has enough demand behind GTA 6 that fans would likely wait, even after another delay.
It is a cautious warning, not an official update.
That distinction matters. York no longer works at Rockstar, so his comments appear to be based on his past experience with the studio rather than current internal knowledge of GTA 6 development.
GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are Already Live
The concern comes after Rockstar opened GTA 6 pre-orders on June 25, following an earlier announcement on June 18.
Rockstar currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience coming November 19 to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Rockstar Store also shows a $79.99 standard pre-order listing, along with pre-order bonuses such as the Vintage Vice City Pack.
For many fans, that makes the November date feel more locked in.
But pre-orders do not always remove the possibility of a delay. Large games can still move late in development, especially when studios are trying to avoid shipping with major bugs or unfinished content.
Why Fans Are Watching Take-Two Closely
The timing is also fueling speculation because Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, is scheduled to report its Q1 fiscal 2027 results on August 7, 2026.
Fans have been watching Take-Two earnings calls closely because GTA 6 updates, release date confirmations, and marketing clues often become bigger talking points around investor events.
Take-Two previously listed Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026, in its official release schedule. Rockstar also said the previous delay to November was meant to give the team more time to finish the game with the level of polish players expect.
Should Fans Be Worried About Another GTA 6 Delay?
For now, there is no official reason to say GTA 6 has been delayed again.
The current confirmed information is simple: Rockstar still lists GTA 6 for November 19, 2026, pre-orders are open, and Take-Two has an earnings update scheduled for August 7.
York’s comments add a new round of discussion, but they do not replace Rockstar’s official release date.
The safer read is this: another delay is possible because game development can change late, but it has not been announced. Until Rockstar or Take-Two says otherwise, November 19 remains the date fans should mark.
As of this writing, Rockstar has not announced a third GTA 6 delay.
