Nintendo has reaffirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, easing concerns that the long-awaited return of the Nintendo 64 classic could slip into next year.
The update appeared in Nintendo’s latest financial results material, where the company listed Ocarina of Time among its announced first-party Nintendo Switch 2 titles. Nintendo also stated that the game “is also scheduled to be released this year.”
Nintendo Keeps Zelda Ocarina of Time on Its 2026 Lineup
The confirmation matters because Nintendo has still not announced a specific release date for the Switch 2 title.
On Nintendo’s official product page, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains listed as “Coming 2026.” The page describes the game as the Nintendo 64 classic returning for a new generation, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
The listing also confirms the game as a digital Nintendo Switch 2 title published by Nintendo. Its ESRB descriptors include “Animated Blood” and “Fantasy Violence.”
Exact Release Date Is Still Unconfirmed
Nintendo has only confirmed the 2026 release window for now.
VICE reported that rumors have pointed to a possible November launch, but the outlet also noted that the date has not been guaranteed by Nintendo. The speculation appears tied partly to recent retail and amiibo-related chatter, along with the game’s ESRB rating appearing ahead of release.
Nintendo Life also reported that Nintendo’s latest financial materials reconfirmed several upcoming Switch 2 release windows, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave for September 17, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for October 22, Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for December 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for 2026.

The remake was officially promoted after Nintendo’s June 2026 Direct. Nintendo of America also shared on X that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time “will be reborn on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026,” giving fans another official signal that the project remains part of Nintendo’s 2026 plans.
That gives Nintendo a major Zelda title for the Switch 2’s 2026 slate, but questions remain.
Nintendo has not yet revealed the final launch date, preorder details, pricing, physical edition plans, or whether the remake will receive a dedicated showcase before release.
For now, the important part is simple: Nintendo still says The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this year.
