Tokyo Game Show 2026 has opened its official 30th Anniversary Special Website, giving fans a look back at the long-running gaming event’s history while previewing special activities planned for this year’s milestone edition.

The anniversary site comes as TGS prepares for one of its biggest changes yet. Tokyo Game Show 2026 will run for five days from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, marking the first time the event will use a five-day format.
Tokyo Game Show Celebrates 30 Years
Tokyo Game Show 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the event, which first launched in 1996.
The official TGS website describes Tokyo Game Show as one of the world’s largest gaming events and says this year’s edition will expand to its longest-ever five-day schedule. The event will have two Business Days on September 17 and 18, followed by three Public Days from September 19 to 21.
This year’s theme is “The Longest Five Days of Nonstop Play,” reflecting the expanded schedule and larger anniversary focus.
What the 30th Anniversary Website Includes
The new 30th Anniversary Special Website highlights Tokyo Game Show’s history across the past three decades.
According to the official site, the anniversary page includes a timeline of past TGS events, a look back at earlier posters, and special content tied to the event’s 30-year run. It also includes a message from the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association, which thanked exhibitors, related parties, and visitors who have supported the event over the years.
The website frames the anniversary as both a celebration of TGS history and a look toward the future of games.
Special Anniversary Activities Announced
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will also feature several anniversary activities at the venue.
Among the confirmed programs is “TOKYO GAME SHOW and 30 Years of Gaming History,” a panel exhibition that will trace the game industry from 1996 to the present. The exhibition will be located at Makuhari Messe, Hall 5, next to Daily Yamazaki.
A TGS30th Message Board will also be set up at the same location, allowing visitors to leave anniversary messages. Visitors who participate will receive a special sticker while supplies last.
The event will also feature a TGS30th Photo Sharing Campaign. Visitors can take photos with a 30th anniversary photo frame and post them on social media using the hashtag #TGS30th to receive a sticker, also while supplies last.
30th Anniversary Ticket and Food Specials
TGS 2026 is also offering a 30th Anniversary Ticket for fans who want a premium collectible tied to the milestone.
The official ticket page lists the 30th Anniversary Ticket at 3,300,000 yen, including tax. The special ticket includes a limited-edition pure gold K24 medal engraved with visuals from popular game titles, along with a frame engraved with the purchaser’s name and serial number.
Food will also be part of the celebration. The official site says participating food trucks will offer “30 BOOST FOOD,” limited-time menu items themed around the number 30.
Family Game Park Joins the Celebration
Family Game Park will return as part of Tokyo Game Show 2026 and will also take part in the anniversary activities.
The official site says the Family Game Park is an area where children up to junior high school age and their guardians can enter for free. For the 30th anniversary, the area will feature special content, including a Family Gara Pon giveaway with prizes for 30 selected visitors who complete a survey.
Sanapi, editor-in-chief of TV Game Magazine, has also been named the official ambassador for the Family Game Park.
Why This Matters
Tokyo Game Show remains one of the most important gaming events in Asia, especially for Japanese publishers, global gaming companies, creators, and fans.
The 30th anniversary gives this year’s event added weight. It is not only expanding to five days, but also using the occasion to highlight how much the game industry has changed since the first TGS in 1996.
For visitors, the anniversary website is a useful starting point for checking special programs, venue activities, and the history-focused content planned for this year’s show.
