The Elder Scrolls 6 Demo to Xbox Leadership Met With Bethesda Worker Protest

Xbox Leadership Sees The Elder Scrolls 6 in Action!

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has given one of the rare public updates on The Elder Scrolls VI, saying she saw a live playthrough of the long-awaited Bethesda RPG during a visit to the studio.

The moment quickly drew attention from fans because The Elder Scrolls VI has remained mostly quiet since its 2018 announcement. But the studio visit also came with a very visible protest outside Bethesda’s Rockville office.

Why the Demo Is Getting Attention

According to GamesRadar+, Sharma posted that she saw a “live playthrough” of The Elder Scrolls VI and described the game’s scale and story in highly positive terms.

That does not mean the game is close to release.

A live internal playthrough usually points to a development milestone or executive presentation, not a public gameplay reveal. Bethesda has not released a trailer, launch window, platform list, or full gameplay breakdown for The Elder Scrolls VI.

Still, the update matters because fans have had very little official information about the game for years.

Bethesda Workers Stage Protest Outside Studio

While Xbox leadership was visiting Bethesda, unionized workers staged a protest outside the building.

OneBGS, the union representing Bethesda Game Studios workers, said Microsoft leadership visited the studio and that employees placed hundreds of flags outside to honor game workers laid off by Microsoft in 2026.

Journalist Chris Kerr also reported that CWA union members inflated a giant rat and set up red flags outside Bethesda’s Rockville office. The protest was timed to coincide with the Xbox leadership visit.

The inflatable rat, commonly known as Scabby the Rat, is often used in labor protests in the United States.

The Protest Highlights Tension Around Xbox Layoffs

The timing made the studio visit more complicated.

Inside the building, Xbox leadership was reportedly seeing progress on one of Microsoft’s biggest future RPGs. Outside, workers were calling attention to layoffs affecting game developers and staff across the company.

That contrast is why the story spread quickly across gaming media and social platforms. Fans were not only reacting to the idea that The Elder Scrolls VI is playable internally. They were also reacting to the public labor protest happening at the same time.

The Elder Scrolls VI Still Has No Release Date

Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI in 2018 with a short teaser, but the company has shared very few concrete details since then.

The latest update suggests the game is far enough along for Xbox leadership to view a live playthrough. However, Bethesda has not confirmed when the game will be shown publicly.

The title, setting, gameplay details, and release date remain unannounced.

What Fans Should Take Away

The key confirmed point is that The Elder Scrolls VI appears to be moving through internal development milestones.

But this was not a public reveal. It was an executive-facing playthrough, based on the available reports.

For now, fans should treat Sharma’s comments as a sign of progress, not a sign that launch news is imminent. Bethesda still needs to make its own official announcement before players get a clear look at the next mainline Elder Scrolls game.
